About Condition Yellow Academy
We are a group of experienced passionate firearms instructors, nationally certified and approved by the Illinois State Police. We dedicate our business to teaching others how to handle firearms safely & responsibly. Whether you are a beginner, or an experienced shooter, Condition Yellow Academy has something for you. We specialize in teaching The Illinois Concealed Carry Class, as well as the 3 hour Concealed Carry Renewal Class required every 5 years.
Additionally, we offer a wide variety of expert firearms training classes that range from beginner classes for those that have never even held a gun before, to advanced training, including defensive pistol, defensive rifle, and defensive shotgun classes.

Relaxed, Alert, Ready
Condition Yellow: Relaxed alert. No specific threatening situation. Your mindset is that “today could be the day I may have to defend myself”.
- You are simply aware that the world is a potentially unfriendly place and that you are prepared to defend yourself, if necessary.
- You don’t have to be armed in this state, but if you are armed you should be in “Condition Yellow”.
- You should always be in Yellow whenever you are in unfamiliar surroundings or among people you don’t know.
- In Yellow, you are “taking in” surrounding information in a relaxed but alert manner, like a continuous 360-degree radar sweep.
